2009-2010 Financial Aid Notifications (e-FAN)

The 2009-2010 electronic financial aid notifications, known as e-FAN's,  will begin going out on July 23rd for admits who have completed the necessary UCLA Graduate Division paperwork. 

An e-mail advising you where to locate your financial aid offer letter will be send to you.   A list of lenders for each federal program will accompany your e-FAN.  All accepted aid is applied for electronically.  Please be sure and read all the notices that accompany the offer for full instructions.

There is still plenty of time to secure your aid for the start of school.

** International Students ** We are very close to finalizing a private student loan for those who do not have a U.S. Co-borrower.  All details to follow as soon as we have final approval.

Essay Questions for 2009-10 Recruiting Season

The UCLA Anderson MBA Admissions Committee has finalized the essay questions for applicants to the Fall 2010 entering class, which are listed below.

 

GENERAL INSTRUCTONS: Please be introspective and authentic in your responses. We value the opportunity to learn about your life experiences, aspirations, and goals.

 

FIRST-TIME APPLICANTS

  1. Describe the ways in which your family and/or community have helped shape your development. (750 words)
  2. Describe the biggest risk you have ever taken, the outcome, and what you learned in the process. (500 words)
  3. Describe your short-term and long-term career goals.  What is your motivation for pursuing an MBA now and how will UCLA Anderson help you to achieve your goals? (750 words) 
  4. Select and respond to one of the two following questions. We would like you to respond to the question by recording an audio or video response (up to 10Mb maximum) for upload in the online application. (The supported file types for audio files are:  .avi, .wav, .mp3, .wmv, .midi, .wma, .aiff, .au, .mp4; the supported file types for video files are:  .mov, .avi, .wmv, .mpeg) If you are unable to submit your response via audio or video, then please prepare a written response, instead. (250 words)          
  • Entrepreneurship is a mindset that embraces innovation and risk-taking within both establish and new organizations. Describe an instance in which you exhibited this mindset.
  • What is something people will find surprising about you?

(Essay #5: Optional) Are there any circumstances in your profile about which the Admissions Committee should be aware? (250 words)

REAPPLICANTS

Reapplicants who applied for the entering fall 2008 or 2009 class are required to complete the following three essays. Upload them as one document if you opt to submit all of your essays in written format.

  1. Please describe your career progress since you last applied and ways in which you have enhanced your candidacy. Include updates on short-term and long-term career goals, as well as your continued interest in UCLA Anderson. (750 words)
  2. Describe the biggest risk you have ever taken, the outcome, and what you learned in the process. (500 words)

(Essay #3: Optional) Are there any extenuating circumstances in your profile about which the Admissions Committee should be aware? (250 words)

Fourth of July Weekend Office Closure

The UCLA Anderson MBA Admissions and Financial Aid Office will be closed this Friday, July 3rd, 2009 in observance of the 4th of July Holiday. Our offices will reopen on Monday, July 6th at 8 AM. We look forward to a well deserved short break and wish you a relaxing great weekend as well.

Early Office Closure and Commencement

The MBA Admissions and Financial Aid Office will close today at 2:00 PM due to campus commencement activities. We expect a large crowd of well-wishers coming to campus to celebrate this happy occasion along with 360 exhausted, but ecstatic, brand new MBA’s. Our sincere congratulations go the Class of 2009 and their friends and family on this important milestone.  Normal campus operations will resume on Monday, June 15th at 8 AM.

Round 3 Decisions Released

The UCLA Anderson MBA Admissions Committee has released its Round 3 admissions decisions. Each new admit will be personally welcomed by a phone call and/or email from a member of the Admissions Committee.

All waitlist candidates will be re-evaluated on an ongoing basis over the summer months. Individuals will not be kept on the waitlist any longer than necessary.

Round 3 applicants may view their decision by logging on to their online application account.

Round 3 MBA Admissions Decisions to be Released Thursday, 4 June 09

To all MBA applicants and waitlisted candidates:

Decisions for Round 3 applications and those currently on the waitlist will be released this Thursday, 4 June 09. Applicants may view their decision online using their Apply Yourself logon and password. Members of the Admissions Committee will telephone and/or email applicants of their decision.

2009 Knapp Venture Competition Winners Announced

The Knapp Venture Competion has been funding Innovation snce 1982.  Now in its 28th year, the student-run competition, hosted at UCLA Anderson School of Management by the Harold and Pauline Price Center for Entrepreneurial Studies and the Entrepreneur Association, provides UCLA Anderson students with an intensive learning experience in the venture initiation process. The competition is named for Cleon T. (Bud) and Betsy Wood Knapp, who generously gave an endowment in 1997, which supports this annual event along with other entrepreneurial initiatives.

The winners of the 2009 competition were announced this past week and include:

1st place, $15,000 – Perseus Medical - a self-contained video endoscope

2nd Place, $7,500 – Beacon Metrology - technology allowing silicon wafers to be monitored in real time

3rd Place, $5000 – Lottay online gift card service

4th Place, $2,500 Eryma products supporting the chemotherapy treatment of cancer patients

5th Place, $1000 – Cardinal Fresh – track and traceability of agricultural-based perishable goods

$4000 EO Accelerator Scholarship - Lottay
